The Doomblades were a popular name with the upcoming tournament, and several prominent sponsors offered to back them. Ultimately, the group decided to take the offer of Duke Yosef Tonnik, the Lord of Reckonpoint. Tonnik, along with Kiddell, was one of the four Dukes of the province surrounding the capital, but unlike Kiddell, he made his home in the capital along with the Duke's of Crossmarch and the Keep itself.
Tonnik demanded excellence, and refused to back anyone entering into a beginners tournament. Beyond that, his demands were simple. Represent him, gain renown, show excellence, don't get arrested, and win.
The group started by having their uniforms made by a rather flamboyant Soldasi tailor. Though using the colors of Reckonpoint and having to incorporate its sigil (the dead tree). The Soldasi added Doomblade flare to the sigil (having the Doomed Blade come out of the tree), and gave each party member a story.
Orianna's outfit was meant to accentuate her demon-like qualities.
Tibeldorf's outfit was a traditional dwarven tabbard and heavy boots, along with his normal armor.
Ash's armor incorporated dragon skulls to show his inner conflict.
Francine's made her appear to be a flaming angel.
and Calaban refused everything but a headband with the sigil.
The next few days were mostly training and gaining fame. The activities (other than group training) were as follows:
Orianna: Went to a local farmer's market and displayed "demonic power" (animating the vegetables, thaumaturgy sounds (aka Raining Blood by Slayer). Then another day created a Shark-nado in the local river (darkness and thaumaturgy as well).
Tibeldorf: Hung out with Rolf and Dolf who had arrived. Met Poor Ebbard. Showed feats of strength at the Roaring Knight Inn.
Calaban: Tracked down his old friend One Stab Rick who was greatly concerned with Sefton. Met with the "inn keepers granddaughter." Was attacked by and killed a man that was later mistaken for Sefton.
Ash: Seduced many women.
Francine: Healed the sick.
Pasco, Maritine, Olrek, and others arrived the day of the tournament. Pasco made a show of declining to participate and condemned the tournaments and requested that people look at the world around them more closely before leaving. This left Maritine to fight Olrek and Torval with a bye. Though Maritine defeated Olrek in that first match, it was not without great taxation physically (though Orianna healed her mostly-with her permission).
Their first match was with Broken Grace, complete with their old acquaintance Greg. The Doomblades handily defeated the inferior team (though, it must be said they sort of goaded them into registering for the higher league). Ash lost his bout, but Tibeldorf was successful.
Afterwards, the Doomblades took a much needed break from training and attended the first day's after party. Duke Kiddell was there, and talked with Tibeldorf for awhile. Orianna danced with a young noble. Ash attempted to seduce many women, but was found out by his visiting fiance, a dragonkin visiting from Parlas who had been taken in by the noble house of Finlux.
After a long talk with her adoptive father Div Finlux, Ash saw his fiance flirting with a golden dragonkin. Vexed at this rival's affection (and being a red dragonkin), Ash punched him. A fight briefly broke out,

but guards came to arrest Ash. Ash attempted to bribe them, but failed. He was released after they passed Tonnik's mansion where the lights flickered 3 times at their approach. Ash was informed by the guards Tonnik would talk to him later.
The party then received a message from "the innkeepers granddaughter" warning them that Sefton was still at large, and something was planned for the tournament, though she did not know what.
