Lore: The Last Lands

The Last Lands are a more of a slang term than anything for the lands south of Sorhein. It is said that when the first Soldasi explorers made it past Sorhein (which, it is said that, more exploring teams went missing during the time period prior to the discovery of "Last Lands" than any time before or since) they expected to find ancient riches and new lands. Legend honors several different grizzled explorers with the discovery, and though none can agree on who actually discovered the lands, what is known is that he or she declared those lands "the last" upon entering, and turned back to Soldas, charting the first reliable path through Sorhein.

The Last Lands were thought to go on forever to the south (like the ocean supposedly goes to the west and the Overrun in the east). Eventually, this myth was debunked, and the end of the Last Lands were reached, though to not much gain. The sands and heat make the lands borderline unlivable, and the flora and fauna that are able to live there are not pleasant either. Recently, ruins havve the been found in the sands (which may or may not move along with them), but the few Soldasi camps there do not have the resources to explore.

Primarily, the Last Lands are used as a home for exiles and other undesirables. Several nations have been known to send the worst of prisoners to the Last Lands instead of executing them (and risking ressurection). A few exiles have managed to make it back to the Abanndonat and the other Edgelands that are slightly more suited for civilization (several have been given asylum by the sultan of Da'Hitor in the Edgelands).
