The Faden Marsh was once a part of Beimoor and the Aroegin Reach. A Lesserman Warlord from Overrun managed to force his way into the founded lands,H and set up his kingdom in Polinskar.. During the short reign of Gormag the Felhand in the Skar of Polinskar, he was eventually forced (with his lessermen followers) to Harfal, and took residence of the Marsh.
After generations of fighting, the powers of Harfal were unable to dislodge the Lessermen from the marsh. Though fierce warriors, the Lessermen began to hurt for supplies. A bargain was then made to let the Lessermen to have the marsh in exchange for their fealty. Since then the Lessermen (due in no small part to their penchant for genetic mutation) have become more suited to their new environment, adopting more human features when compared to their fellow cousins.
Trade: The marsh is one of the few areas of Harfal that has any quality metal due to its proximity Burdul in Polinskar. Most of the trade goods available in the Marsh are goods the rest of Harfal may frown on. The Marsh is close trade partners with the Reach (and often back each other up diplomatically as well). Those with more human-like features are known to trade in the capital and other parts of Harfal as well.
Military: The Marsh is required to give some of its warriors up as tribute to the crown. Due to the unpopularity of these recruits, they are known to be formed in their own squads (though the more human members are able to make it to standard regiments).
Culture: The primary cultural question of the Marsh is one of Lesser heritage vs. new acceptance with the humans. Some take pride in living like their human benefactors, while others still worship the old gods of the Overrun. The Felhand is primarily inhabited by those following the old ways, and the Marshfolk by those who are willing to adapt to their new surroundings (and the religion of the land).
